Scottie Pippen Retires

Announcement Date: October 5, 2004

Scottie Pippen retires after returning to the Bulls prior to the 2003-2004 season.

Bulls’ general manager John Paxson pursued Pippen to return to his old team, which had little success following the break-up of the Bulls dynasty in 1998. The deal was made official on July 20, 2003, as Pippen signed a two-year, $10 million contract with the franchise. He appeared in only 23 games before injuring his knee and ultimately retiring.
